here's a man carrying his suitcase in his hand
walking on through the city street
and he's played the blues
and he knows the beat
others can't grasp his purpose being there
they stare, as he walks this land
now as his memory recalls
outside the tall trees
he remembers the breeze
and the love, the way his name was called
that shine on her face
he really visualizes her now
when he looks in her eyes
he wasn't wasting his time
'cause she never told him any lies
the man notices the cry of a child
and the children who play past their meal
he shakes his head as the moment is still
his thoughts are focused now on a little girl
he reaches deep into his pocket
and gives her some change
and along with the change
there's some scriptural verses
written on a Sunday school tract
and she & her family now react
